It was deserted as it was a weekday

Yang at the Beserah Beach

We dropped by Beserah beach to check on a group of fishermen
who were busy with their net full of fishes.
I was wondering what will their future be with the imminent start up of the Lynas
rare earth processing facility nearby,
will the fishes here be safe to eat after this,
now that we are hearing of whales being contaminated with radioactive in Japan,
even now with the present the oil and gas facilities at Gebeng
already contributing some negative impact on the water quality here.
I hope the authorities will come to their senses and stop this project once and for all,
if not we will seeing the begining of the end of the tourism industry
here in Balok and Cherating area.

Anyway Yang is busy with something else,
memorizing for his english spelling test
like all kids,their future is in our hands,
whatever we do today on the environment
will impact on their future,
so decide wisely,our elected representatives of Malaysia
or we will vote you out come the next election.

Chinese All Souls Day 2011

This year's 'Cheng Meng' saw more of Lee's family members joining
especially the younger ones for they are the ones
who'll have to take over when the elders are no more around.
Our life generally have been better since we started

and hope it will continue to improve.

We had steam boat for the CNY eve dinner
at Kalai Villa Apartment our place for the CNY gathering
after a long journey via the new Raub,Sg Koyan,Ringlet road
which is the best road up the hills so far,
even better than the Simpang Pulai one.

Mum's cooking is always the best.

Look who is flat out after the journey,it looks like Rowan.

Well! At 16 deg C on a rainy night you definitely wouldn't need an aircon.

although you're no more with us here but your presence nearby
is always felt when the whole family is gathered together and through dreams
where i always see your happy smiling face.
Father,i would like to thank you so much for bringing us all up nicely
through so much hardship and suffering that you and mum have to go through,
if not for you we wouldn't be here today.

It was a quiet birthday for Wei Yang
who is now five at his grandma's house in Kuantan.
Rowan and Leon was around to cheer him up
and he got a simple cheese cake which is Leon's favourite,
a hot wheels coin box and puzzle.
After three years,he seems to have grown up to like Kuantan very much
especially when in the company of his grandma,uncle Anthony and family.

The beautiful rocks of Telok Chempedak is always
a nice place to play around especially during low tide
and here we are exploring a small part of it at the far end of the picture

i still call this place, a small bay by its old name,Methodist Bay.

This short trip was for collecting natural mineral water
flowing out from pvc pipes on a roadside slope
of the Ulu Yam road.

A track up Bukit Pelindung from Telok Cempedak

The track from TC up to Bukit Pelindung is about 2km long
going up from sea level to about 220m
which took us about 30 minutes of slow walk.
There is a Mountain Bike trail running on the same route which is not well maintained
but there were a few daredevils in their fully padded suit and absorbers equiped bikes
speeding down the trail too fast for me to even take out my camera from the bag.

It can be quite dark under the canopy of these big trees.

Kuantan Buddhist Association Lakeside

We dropped by the nice lakeside of The Kuantan Buddhist Association on a hot afternoon
to feed the hungry fishes there with bread crust we bought from a bakery.
The lake was ones upon a time a granite quarry.

All ready for the feeding.

Catfish,talapia and tortoise are always hungry here.

Our trip to Colmar Tropicale

Our trip to Colmar was during the recent school holidays
where my wife took a few days leave and we drove up the hill from Bentong
about 30 minutes away.
The height of the hill is not enough to offer cool air during the day
but i think it will be colder at night.
Besides Colmar,golfing,horse riding and a small rabbit farm the place badly needs
something more attractive like a water theme park to attract more visitors
because unlike Genting there is no casino here.

This i think is the only place here where you can have a photo with a pair of swan.

Berjaya Hills Colmar Tropicale

A quiet and tranquil Kolong Pahat

We visited Kolong Pahat a small village about 1km from Sungai Lembing town
famous for it's landmark suspension bridge.
What was once a pack village during the good old mining times
is now a quiet and almost abandoned as most of the younger generation
have migrated to the cities.

Only two shop are still in business, a sundry shop and a noodle maker and someone turned the back of one of these old shop into a swiflet house.

This white cat belonging to the sundry shop is so lazy
even to open his eyes when touched.

This homestay is a nice place for those looking for an escape from the busy and hectic city life.

The century old suspension bridge is still strong and well maintained.

Our weekend visit to Malacca was an unplanned one,
i took them there on a friday night and stayed there (at Pengkalan Balak's Angin Laut Chalet)
before returning on sunday.

Panorama Hill in Sungai Lembing is a small hill about 260m high
and the four of us me,Wei Han,Wei Shen and cousin Amanda
took about half an hour for the steep climb up which was worth while
considering the beautiful misty view awaiting us.

Chinese All Souls Day at Kampung Langgar and Tg Lumpur

This are the decendents of Lee Boo Siong Family at the cleanup of
my forgoten and lost great grandfather's grave site
which was only found recently
together with eldest aunt's grave and fourth granduncle(Rompin relatives) grave.
The land where the grave are belongs to great grandmother's(Tan Liam Neo)
sister's husband who lives in Singapore
and the land duties of the plot together with another by the Pahang Riverside
where once there was a house(presumely that's where our greatgrandfather lives)
are paid yearly by Uncle Yong Guan.
Lee Elay, our great grandfather who came from China was a duck trader
where he will go by his bamboo raft up and down the Pahang river
to trade in ducks.

The site at Kampung Langgar is about 5.5km from the Pekan and Kampung Lamir junction.

This is uncle Yong Guan when we first went looking for the graves in 2005.

The same place today is overgrown with bushes.

Even the palm oil tree is already as high as a coconut tree.

In 2005 i went with my dad and uncle Yong Guan,
the bushes then .

and after 2 hours of chopping with 7 parangs and grave are remarked
but it is difficult to identify whose it is
because wood was used earlier instead of granite.

of which one is my aunt.

Our walk started from sis Alice's beach house nearby to the first British ww2 pillbox
and we continued to the second one at the far end of the beach.

My three sons are so tied up at home with their facebook game and PSP at their grandma's house
in Kuantan so i took them for a walk along the one km long Telok Cempedak beach.

Rowan Lee Wei Han the eldest is in form three this year,
he is even taller than me now.

Leon Lee Wei Shen is in standard five.

Edward Lee Wei Yang is five this year and is in his second year of kindergarten.

Chinese New Year 2010

Our 1st day of the Tiger year family photo(me in red) minus David and family because
he only came back on the second day with his entourage of almost 25
consisting of his inlaws and family members.

Angpau are my sons favourite coz it will add on to their bank a/c
and as for me it will be minus.

We bought nasi dagang from Restoran Dayana and our first visitors
are our muslim cousins from my granduncle Osman @ Lee Tiow Teng
who was a boat driver of the ferry across Pahang river at Pekan
when the Sultan Abu Bakar bridge haven't being built yet.
He had 4 wifes,no wonder his nick name was Osman Buaya,
too bad l haven't seen him before.

We had steamboat on the cny eve at my younger sis Alice rest house at Pantai Pelindung,Beserah.
She works in Singapore and this beach front house is her dream house

luckily we went early cause it was jammed pack by 7pm.

Trip to Panching caves & Sungai Lembing

Took my two elder sons to Panching Caves or Gua Charas half way on the Kuantan Sungai Lembing road since i haven't been there for 25 long years.
This is a 170m high limestone hill which have a main cave with a Buddhist and a Hindu Temple inside.
You will have to pay some donations for the upkeep of the place
eg lighting in the cave at the entrance before the ladder up.

where all the tin rich earth are poured into it
and passed on the the mill below.

We drop by the Kellie's Castle on the way to the Batu Gajah Tin Dredge.
It was an enjoyable trip for both my sons even though they look tired
because they have to be up early for the trip as we are driving from KL.

The Tin Dredge Heritage is situated by the Tg Tualang road in Batu Gajah,Perak.
I took my two sons there to have a look since all three of us have not seen a tin dredge before and on the way we stop by at Kellie's Castle and the temple Kellie Smith build.
This dredge is one of three remaining in our country.
The other one i know off in at Paya Indah Wetlands,Putrajaya.

Opens everyday,830am to 600pm(1hr Lunch break) with a RM5 fee for adult and RM3 for children.

The welcome center have a display of tools,photos
and a video show of an actual working dredge in Selangor which is also retired now.

Trip to Kemaman Mini Zoo and Recreational Park

The new Kemaman Mini Zoo and Recreational Park is a new addition to the east coast town of Kemaman.
The mini zoo is yet to be completed,the tiger display area,
walking path around the birds cages and signboards for the displays need to be added,
also the elephant which is on loan from Thailand
will only will be available in January 2010 after an earlier 3 months stint.
Other than that the mini zoo is alright with lots of ostrich,parrot,peacocks,
peasant birds,a pair of bears,deers,otters,phytons
and awaiting the elephant and tigers.
A completed water falls with 2 swimming pool and a water park still under construction with slides and float rides.
I only hope that the municipal can find someone to run and maintain it properly
because this will be the first one run by a goverment agency.

pls watchout for traffic passing by in front of the entrance,
seems to be a hazard crossing from the car park opposite the entrance.

Our trip to Bukit Gambang Water Park

The new Bukit Gambang Water Park is a new attraction to the east coast
which is famous for its beautiful beaches and it's a nice place for group gatherings like conventions or family days because of it is easily accessible by the East Coast Expressway .

This part of the park where people line up to rent their tube(float) for the Glacier River/Journey of Ice and Coco Beach wave pool is a mess,maybe some other alternative way should be used.

Our Trip to Fraser's Hill

Fraser Hill is about 1500m high and it offers a cool
and quiet atmosphere for those who wants an escape from the hectic city life.
This is the signboard at the entrance of the new road to the hill
which is already a white elephant because it had remained closed since last year
due to never ending landsides so it is back to the ever faithful old route build a century ago.
Whatever happens to technology and knowledge attained in the last century
that couldn't be applied by the builders of the new road to make it safe
or is it because they don't have the know how?

A sad welcome to Gap when i found out that my favourite coffee shop is already closed.
Looks like more of these type of shops will continue to close
if someone from the next generation is not willing to take over.

This is why we will missed the cafe,
the traffic time table for the road up to Fraser's Hill
since it is a one way traffic, a wrong timing will hold you back for up to an hour
but a new rest area build nearby with toilets and a tea stall helps.

Lee Wei Yang in Kuantan

At home in Kuantan,where he is staying with grandma, my brother,wife and daughter Sin Yee,
he will be five next year
his second year in kindergarten.

This is where he sits when shopping at supermarkets,
his job is to sort out the things we buy so that he still have some space to sit.

where we went shopping for CNY clothes selling at 50% discount at Body Gloves and at Parkson.

i really hope so,smallest in class as he is born on the 11th of December 2005,

he got 100% for Mathematics,English and BM

and 92% for Chinese.

Our trip to Taiping,my aunt's house started in Klang
by the coastal road up north
and we stop by Kuala Selangor for a short visit to an old fort,
Tanjung Keramat Fort which is build in 1784 by Sultan Ibrahim
the second sultan of Selangor,
it was later captured by the Dutch and is renamed Fort Utrecht.

Old cannons litered the fort obviously from the look this place in not well kept,

i wonder who is in charge of the area,these guys really needs a kick on their ass

for leaving a historic site in such a bad state.

This are their sad faces when we first move into Sis Audrey's house,
now that their mum and maid are no more around to pamper them
they each have to learn to be independent by
doing household chores like washing the plates,washing their school shoes,doing the laundry,
and most of all their school homework besides adapting to their new school
and getting used to using school and public bus.

Yang the prince,will also have to go to kindergarten soon.

At Sepang F1 Circuit's paddock on a sunday open for all warm up,
with my maid Umi before she left for home for a month holiday
which she never return even though i have renewed her permits
and bought her return flights tickets.
I have to go through the hassle of reporting to the police
and immigration and having to pay a fine too,
the problem didn't end there,
i now have to take off from work for more than a month to take care of the kids,
cooking and fetching them to and fro from school until the school holidays
when i have to transfer them to schools in KL so that my sis,
Audrey can take care of them.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for being my saviour in a time like this,
nothing can repay your kindness to me and my kids,thanks.
Back to my maid, she did come back later but to work in a 'bak kut teh' stall
which i frequently go to,how dumb of her.

Our visit to Galeri Diraja Sultan Abdul Aziz

The Sultan Suleiman Building in the royal town of Klang,a classic colonial building build in 1909
house the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Galeri.
This unique building was last used by the local council before it was converted to the galeri in 2005 and was opened to the public in 2007.
It is a place not to be missed if you are in Klang.
